Social Networking – What’s it all about?

In its basic form, online Social Networking involves groups of individuals who share common interests and activities who are enthusiastic about exploring the interests and activities of others. Social Networking creates a social environment and is utilized by many companies as an online marketing tool to connect them with like minded people with the interests that their company can offer.

There are a number of social networking websites focusing on particular interests. Once you become member of a social networking website, you will have the potential to connect with other members of the site who have the same hobbies, religion or politics, general interests and from there you can create your own network of friends. There are variety of ways to interact with others with the help of e-mail and instant messaging services.

Social networking is being used as a platform to put forward yourself and your business. Incorporating social networking into your online marketing efforts has the potential to increase profits as well as making your company more approachable, connecting you with your customers on a personal level; those customers are more likely to recommend you to their friends and family, probably via the same social networking channels. Social networking helps in extending the reach of a company, as people hear about you who wouldn’t have necessarily known about your business. If they connect with you online they are more likely to use your services when they need to.
